Bio

Proudly representing the Dominican Republic Victor Martinez made his professional debut in 2001, and is only the second Dominican bodybuilder to turn pro; before him was Tony Domenench who went pro in 1995. Martinez is one of the biggest guys to ever take the stage and he has a solid record of top 5 finishes.

Martinez first major competition was the NPC New York Metro Championships in 1997. He entered as a light heavyweight and won it. In 2001 he had a debut in his first IFBB tournament where he finished 8th.

On October 9, 2011, coming off of a win at the Arnold Europe in Madrid, Martinez was arrested by DHS (Department of Homeland Security). The reason was that his permanent resident card expired. After being questioned by DHS agents, he was then ordered to an ICE (Immigration & Customs Enforcement) facility in Hudson, NJ, known as the Hudson County Correctional Facility. He was denied bail. After an apparent mix up in documents, Martinez’s final hearing was pushed back to April 27, 2012. The judge granted Martinez his freedom and he was allowed to stay inside of the US. Martinez continues training.
